Shipping
Power Knot biodigesters are high-mass industrial units distributed through a logistics network that prioritizes efficient delivery and technical readiness. In accordance with the standard regional distribution model, units typically ship from the closest regional distribution center—either Vancouver, British Columbia, or Toronto, Ontario—depending on model availability and the proximity of the final installation site. High-demand configurations are often staged in these Canadian hubs to support rapid deployment for local sustainability projects. Specialized or high-capacity models, such as the LFC-500 or larger units, ship directly from the primary manufacturing headquarters in Fremont, California, to ensure the equipment meets the specific technical requirements of the order.
Because these units are precision-engineered machines weighing several hundred kilograms, they are transported via specialized LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight carriers on heavy-duty wooden skids. Every biodigester is professionally crated to protect the mirrored stainless steel finish and sensitive internal load cells. Customers are required to inspect the shipment for any signs of transit-related impact before signing the bill of lading, as all equipment is fully insured from the point of origin to the final destination in Canada.
Warranty
Power Knot provides a robust manufacturer warranty that reflects the industrial-grade durability of their aerobic biodigestion technology. The coverage is designed to support long-term operational stability in commercial and institutional environments.
- Standard Parts Warranty: Most LFC (Liquid Food Composter) biodigesters are covered by a 3-year warranty on all parts and components, ensuring protection against manufacturing defects in the motor, drum, and chassis.
- LFC Cloud Connectivity: For units under warranty, Power Knot typically provides complimentary remote monitoring through the LFC Cloud, allowing the factory to track system health and performance diagnostics in real-time.
- Consumables and Bio-Organic Media: The Powerzymes and Powerchips used in the digestion process are considered consumable supplies and are not covered under the primary equipment warranty once they have been introduced to the machine.
- Replacement Parts: Genuine Power Knot replacement parts carry their own limited warranty or the remaining balance of the original equipment warranty, whichever is longer.
Service & Support
Technical service and operational support are managed through a national network of factory-authorized service providers across Canada. Because Power Knot equipment utilizes complex biological processes and sophisticated load cell technology, all warranty-related service and commissioning must be performed by authorized technicians. Distribution hubs in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Toronto, Ontario, maintain an inventory of genuine OEM parts to facilitate rapid response times and minimize equipment downtime. Additionally, the LFC Cloud allows technicians to diagnose many operational issues remotely, often resolving performance fluctuations without the need for an onsite visit. Unauthorized repairs or the use of non-genuine biological media will void the manufacturer’s warranty.
Exceptions and Exclusions
Warranty protection is strictly contingent upon the biodigester being operated and maintained in accordance with the provided technical manuals. Specific exclusions include:
- Chemical Exposure: Using harsh solvents, bleach, or acidic chemicals to clean the exterior or interior of the machine can damage the stainless steel finish and kill the essential microorganisms. Damage resulting from chemical misuse is not covered.
- Microorganism Starvation: The biological health of the system is the responsibility of the operator. If the machine is not fed with organic waste for extended periods (typically exceeding 10 days) causing the microorganisms to die, the cost of replenishing the media is not a warranty item.
- Non-Organic Contaminants: Damage to the drum, paddles, or discharge pumps caused by non-organic waste—such as plastics, metal utensils, or glass—is explicitly excluded from warranty coverage.
- Routine Maintenance: Periodic maintenance, including the lubrication of the drive chain and inspection of the door seals, must be performed at least once a year. Failures resulting from a lack of documented maintenance are not covered.
- Freight Claims: Damage sustained during transportation is not a manufacturer warranty issue; any visible damage to the crate or unit must be documented with the carrier at the time of delivery to preserve the right to a claim.
