Koolaire K00520 LuminIce II UV Sanitation System for Kuber Icemakers
Koolaire K00520 LuminIce II Virus & Bacteria Inhibitor
Enhance the safety and cleanliness of your ice supply with the Koolaire K00520 LuminIce II Virus and Bacteria Inhibitor. This aftermarket kit is engineered to work 24/7, actively defending your ice machine's foodzone against harmful microorganisms. By utilizing a unique combination of 254 nm UVC and 185 nm UVV light, it sterilizes the air and creates Cold Oxygen Plasma (COP) to inhibit the growth of viruses, bacteria, yeast, and fungi. This ensures your ice is always clean and safe for consumption. The LuminIce II system significantly reduces slime build-up, making scheduled cleanings faster, easier, and less frequent, which saves you time, labor costs, and reduces machine downtime. Its smart internal design allows for a simple, plug-and-play installation inside compatible Koolaire modular ice machines, powered directly by the control board with no external cords required. Maintain peak performance with a simple UV bulb change recommended just once a year.
Key Features:
- Advanced Sanitation: Uses UVC and UVV light to create Cold Oxygen Plasma, actively inhibiting virus, bacteria, and yeast growth.
- Reduces Cleaning Frequency: Proven to keep the ice machine foodzone cleaner for longer, reducing slime build-up and the need for frequent deep cleanings.
- Cost-Effective: Saves money by lowering labor costs for cleaning and extending the operational life of your ice machine.
- Seamless Integration: Mounts discreetly inside the ice machine and is powered by the internal control board for a clean, cord-free installation.
- Easy Maintenance: Requires no chemicals to add or maintain; a simple annual UV bulb replacement is all that's needed to ensure effectiveness.
- Compatibility: Designed for field installation on Koolaire KYT & KDT Kuber models 300, 400, 420, 500, 700, & 1000 manufactured after July 2017.

Shipping
Fulfillment for Koolaire equipment is managed through Garland Canada’s national logistics network. Because Koolaire focuses on high-volume modular and undercounter units, a significant inventory of the most popular cube and half-cube models is maintained in regional hubs to ensure rapid availability for the Canadian market.
- Primary Hubs: The main distribution center in Mississauga serves Ontario and Eastern Canada, while Western Canada is primarily serviced through partner staging facilities in Calgary and Edmonton.
- Lead Times: Standard in-stock items, such as the KDT and KYT series modular heads or undercounter units, are typically processed and dispatched within 2 to 5 business days.
- Freight Coordination: Ice machines are high-precision equipment containing sensitive evaporators and compressors. All units are professionally crated and secured to reinforced skids for LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) transport.
- Inspection Requirement: A meticulous inspection is mandatory upon delivery. Transit-related damage to the exterior finish or internal components must be documented on the carrier's bill of lading to preserve freight claim rights, as shipping damage is not covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
Warranty
Koolaire provides a robust manufacturer warranty that is administered through Manitowoc Ice. The coverage is tiered to provide long-term protection for the unit’s most critical mechanical and cooling components.
- Ice Maker: The complete machine is covered by a 3-year limited parts and labour warranty from the original date of installation.
- Evaporator: The evaporator plate, which is the heart of the ice-making process, features an extended 5-year parts and labour warranty.
- Compressor: The compressor is protected by a 5-year parts warranty and a 3-year labour warranty, ensuring significant coverage for the refrigeration system's most expensive component.
- Registration: To ensure prompt service, units should be registered within five days of installation. The warranty applies only to the original purchaser at the original installation site.
Service & Support
Technical support for Koolaire is integrated into the extensive Manitowoc/Garland Canada service network, which is one of the most comprehensive in the country.
- Authorized Service Agents: Warranty and technical repairs are performed by factory-authorized service providers such as Key Food Equipment in Calgary and Choquette-CKS in Ontario and Quebec.
- Parts Availability: A deep inventory of genuine OEM replacement parts—including water pumps, float switches, and distribution tubes—is maintained at the Mississauga headquarters and through regional distributors like Parts Town Canada.
- Technical Consultations: Garland Canada provides direct technical assistance to help operators with initial setup, including specific guidance on the one-touch cleaning cycle and food-zone maintenance.
Exceptions and Exclusions
To maintain the validity of the Koolaire warranty, the equipment must be operated and maintained according to professional standards.
- Water Conditions: Failures caused by adverse water conditions, specifically scale buildup or mineral deposits that clog the distribution tube or damage the pump, are explicitly excluded. The use of a Manitowoc Arctic Pure water filtration system is strongly recommended.
- Maintenance Neglect: Standard maintenance, including the cleaning of condenser coils and the 17-step interior sanitization process, is the responsibility of the owner and is not covered under warranty.
- Improper Utilities: Damage resulting from incorrect electrical voltage, power surges, or improper drainage and plumbing connections is not considered a manufacturing defect.
- Environmental Limits: Operating the ice machine in ambient temperatures below 40°F (4°C) or above 110°F (43°C) will void the performance guarantee and potentially damage the refrigeration system.
- Consumables: Wearable items such as air filters and light bulbs are classified as maintenance components and are not covered under the primary warranty.
- Freight Damage: Any damage sustained during transportation is a freight matter. Visible damage must be reported to the carrier at the time of delivery to facilitate a claim with the logistics provider.
