Shipping
Leer ice merchandisers and temperature-controlled storage solutions are primarily manufactured and dispatched from their production facility in New Lisbon, Wisconsin. While common replacement parts and smaller accessories may be available through regional partners in Vancouver, British Columbia, or Toronto, Ontario, the merchandisers themselves are typically handled as factory-direct shipments to ensure they meet the specific voltage and configuration requirements of the Canadian market. Because Leer units are high-mass industrial appliances, they are often treated as special order items with lead times varying based on seasonal demand for ice storage.
Due to the size and weight of these units, they are secured to heavy-duty wooden skids and transported via professional LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight carriers. Every merchandiser is designed with a box-frame construction to increase resistance to transit-related stress, but the units are still sensitive to impact. Since these shipments originate in Wisconsin, they are subject to customs clearance at the Canadian border. It is imperative that the equipment is inspected thoroughly upon arrival; any evidence of transit damage must be documented on the carrier's bill of lading to maintain eligibility for a freight claim, as Leer’s manufacturer warranty does not cover damage sustained during transportation.
Warranty
Leer Inc. provides a standard North American manufacturer warranty that specifically applies to goods installed in Canada, the United States, or Mexico.
- Component Parts: All component parts manufactured by Leer are covered by a 1-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of original shipment.
- Repair Labour: Labour charges for the repair or replacement of defective parts are covered for a period of 90 days from the date of installation, provided the defect is reported within that window.
- Compressor Motor: The compressor motor features an extended 5-year parts-only warranty from the date of original shipment.
- Replacement Parts: Genuine Leer replacement parts provided under warranty are warranted only for the balance of the original equipment's warranty period.
To be eligible for labour reimbursement, all service work must be performed by a licensed HVAC repair company and must be authorized or approved by Leer in writing prior to the repair being initiated.
Service & Support
Technical service and warranty support are managed through a national network of authorized manufacturer representatives and specialized refrigeration distributors across Canada. Because Leer merchandisers utilize precision electronic controllers and specialized R290 (Hydrocarbon) refrigeration systems in newer models, all internal repairs should be conducted by authorized technicians to ensure safety and code compliance. Genuine OEM parts are accessible through distribution partners in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Toronto, Ontario, to facilitate rapid repair times. Leer also provides direct technical support from their Wisconsin facility to assist Canadian service agents with troubleshooting and parts identification.
Exceptions and Exclusions
Warranty coverage is strictly contingent upon the merchandiser being installed and maintained according to the provided technical manuals. Specific exclusions include:
- Maintenance Requirements: The installation site must provide adequate airflow for the refrigeration system. Failure to keep the refrigeration grill openings clear of obstructions, which leads to compressor failure, is not covered under warranty.
- Condenser Cleaning: Routine cleaning of the condenser coil is the responsibility of the owner; failures caused by accumulated dust or debris are excluded.
- Labour Limitations: Labour coverage includes only standard straight-time hours at the site of installation and explicitly excludes charges for travel time, mileage, or premium overtime rates.
- Transit Damage: Any damage incurred during shipping is the responsibility of the freight carrier and is not a warranty item.
- Product Loss: Leer is not liable for the loss of ice, merchandise, or other property resulting from a product defect or mechanical failure.
- Unauthorized Alterations: The warranty is void if the equipment is subject to unauthorized repairs, alterations, or if the user fails to follow the prescribed installation instructions, such as ensuring the unit is placed on a solid, level base.
